What is Standard Anatomical Position?
Describes the body in a standing upright position with the hands turned out so that the palms are facing forward.
Define Body Planes.
Imaginary vertical or horizontal lines used to divide the body into sections for the descriptive purposes.
Define Sagittal Planes
Divides the body vertically into right & left parts (up & down).
Define Midsagittal (Median) Planes
Lies exactly on midline.
Define Parasagittal Planes
Not the midline.
Define Frontal or Coronal Planes
Divides the body vertically into anterior & posterior parts. (front & back)
Define Transverse or Horizontal Planes
Divides the body horizontally into superior & inferior parts. (Side to Side)
