- guidance is required
- the preformer struggles when faced with different situations in which to preform the skill
- attentional focus is mainly directed to the skill

- large imporvement in preformance level, with higher onsistency and fewer errors
- errors are made during complex skills
- improved understanding of the skill
- balance between concious and autonomous control

- consistent high preformance level, with very few errors
- analysis of phsyical practice
- preformance is adaptable
- thorough understanding of the skill
- no concious thought required
- feedback: intrinsic, concurrent, negative

A
occurs when an athelete stops making progress and preforms to the same level for a period of time
