Incipient caries
A
Enamel demineralization but NO cavitation.
-Clinically appears as white spot

Arrested caries
A
An incipient or advanced legion that has STOPPED
or REMINERALIZED
-Brown pigmented area

Active caries
A
More demineralization than remineralization at the present.
-Clinically appears yellow-orange (chronic) or dentin colored (acute)

A
Lesion at the interface of a previous restoration

Residual carries
A
Caries that were left after cavity prep

Rampant caries
A
Sudden & rapid destruction. 3+ caries developing per year
