Presentation

A
  • usually presents in young dogs around 12m/o with acute onset severe neck pain with evident neurological deficits
  • +/- pyrexia
  • it is not uncommon

Diagnosis

A
  • can be highly suspect on CSF which shows a predominantly neutrophilic pleocytosis
  • advanced imaging may exclude other differentials

A
  • extended course of corticosteroids at immunosuppressive doses i.e. 6w minimum
