A
- steroid responsive meningoarteritis

A
- beagle pain syndrome

What is it?
A
- an autoimmune condition with inflammation targeted towards the arteries in the meninges

Presentation
A
- usually presents in young dogs around 12m/o with acute onset severe neck pain with evident neurological deficits
- +/- pyrexia
- it is not uncommon

Diagnosis
A
- can be highly suspect on CSF which shows a predominantly neutrophilic pleocytosis
- advanced imaging may exclude other differentials

Tx
A
- extended course of corticosteroids at immunosuppressive doses i.e. 6w minimum

Prognosis
A
- usually very good
- but there can be some recurrences
