What is it?
A
- effectively the development of cysts within the subarachnoid space producing focal compression of the adjacent spinal cord

Prevalence
A
- rare
- but appear to be more common in the French Bulldog and Pug, and so are becoming more common

Similar presenting condition
A
- constrictive myelopathy (has a similar aetiology)

Presentation
A
- progressive focal spinal cord dysfunction
- usually proprioceptive ataxia progressing to paraparesis
- can also affect the cervical spine causing tetraparesis

Diagnosis
A
- advanced imaging

Tx
A
- surgical
- but may respond to trial anti-inflammatory doses of corticosteroids if surgical is not feasible
