Open Skill
It is a skill that is affected by the surrounding environment. It need to be constantly adapted by the performer to meet the requirements of the activity as the situation change around them. Also it needs adapting as they re executed. Conditions are unstable and unlikely to be the same each time the skill is performed.
Closed skill
It is a skill that is not affected by the surrounding environment. It doesn’t need to be adapted because the situation around the performer is unstable. The skill has a more set pattern and can be pre-planned. The opponents don’t directly interact during the execution of the skill. this reduces the need to make sudden changes. The conditions are likely to be same each time the skill is performed.
