Recreational activities prior to the industrial revolution which reflected the violent lifestyle of the population.
Professional
Someone who takes part in a sport for financial reward, with this being their main source of income.
Rational recreation
Recreation following the Industrial revolution which reflected the violent lifestyle of the population.

The interlinking relationship between sport, media and sponsorship.
Globalisation
The process of using increasing influence to be recognised on an international scale.
Wagering
To place money on the outcome of an event.
