Skill Acquisition - Memory Models Flashcards
Selective attention
Process used to detect the information that is priority, while ignoring irrelevant stimuli.
Response time
The amount of time between the initiation of the stimulus and the completion of the response.
Movement time
The amount of time between the start and end of the response.
Simple reaction time
The response when faced with a single stimulus.
Choice reaction time
When an individual is faced with multiple stimuli and responds to one of these.
Spatial anticipation
Predicting what is going to happen.
Temporal anticipation
Predicting when something is going to happen.
Input
Information received from our senses.
Display
The sporting environment that the performer is in, where they are faced with a number of different sporting actions.
Receptors
Features of the body that are able to recognise and respond to a stimulus.
Perception
Interpreting information (from stimuli) and understanding what the information means.
Output
The physical response to stimuli determined by previous experiences / memory.
Feedback
Identifying strengths and weaknesses in a performance and remembering this information for future use.
Kinesthesis
Involves being able to detect changes in body movements and positions, by feeling the movement without use of the other five senses.
