• patient J.W developed the ability to speak using the right hemisphere as well as the left therefore the ability to speak may not be restricted to the right side
• they use an ideographic approach which means the sample is really small as it only uses split brain patients, making it not representative outside of the confounding of the disorder causing the procedure therefore making it generalisable
