By boiling off the alcohol, collecting and cooling it and then condensing it back into higher strength alcoholic liquid

How is brandy made?
Distilled wine. Aged in oak and/or coloured with caramel before bottling so it is brown or amber in colour.
How is cognac made?
Oak-aged grape brandy
Must be double distilled using a copper pot still
Where does cognac come from?
A delimited region to the north of Bordeaux
Where does Armagnac come from?
Delimited area to the south of Bordeaux
