Cervical lordosis Thoracid kyphosis Lumbar lordosis
What is the name of the joint between vertebrae?
Facet
What type of joint is facet joint?
secondary cartilaginous
Where does sensory leave spinal cord?
posterior
Where does motor leave spinal cord?
anterior
Where does the spinal cord end?
L1
Name for spinal OA
Spondylosis Loss of water and sponginess of discs mean more load at facet joints
Name areas of disc
Outer annulus fibrosis Inner nucleus pulposus
What is the sciatic nerve?
L4-S3
What causes spinal stenosis
Narrowing of canal due to osteophytes and hypertrophied ligaments cause nerve root compression and decreased nerve blood supply
What ligament is in red?
Anterior longitudnal ligament (anterior of vertebral body)
What ligament is in purple?
Posterior longitudnal ligament (posterior to vertebral body, anterior in canal)
What ligament is in blue?
Ligamenum flavum (thin, goes inside canal at posterior aspect)
What ligament is in green?
Interspinous ligament (between spinous processes)
