Cervical spinal nerve vertebral column exit
The nerve exits above the vertebrae.
C8 is between C7 and T1
End of theSpinal Cord
Around L1. Tip is Conus Medullaris.
Cauda Equina continues below conus Medullaris.
Lateral Horn
Only seen in the Thoracic Spinal Cord
Contains the Preganglionic sympathetics
RAdiculopathy
Damage to a spinal nerve
Will follow Dermatomal, Myotomal map
What spinal nerve does a disc herniation injure
It’s always the lower one. (For different reasons though)
Radicular Arteries
Arise at each spinal level and serve their respective roots and ganglia
Medullary Arteries
Arise at the intermittent levels to augment the blood supply
Artery of Adamkiewicz
LArge anterior RAdiculopathy artery arising on left from T9-L1.
Supplies the majority of the lumbar and sacral spinal cord.
Dorsal Horn
Sensory Processing
Lamina 1-6
Intermediate Zone
Sympathetic preganglionics (T1-L3) Parasympathetic preganglionics (S2-S4)
Lamina 7
Ventral Horn
Motor Neurons and Interneurons
