- uses speech or non-crying sounds to get attention

red flags for kids at risk for language delay and/or ASD
A
- no babbling by 12 months
- no gestures for communication (pointing, showing, reaching, waving) by 12 months.
- no words by 16 months.
- no two word meaningful phrases (does not include repetition or imitation) by 24 months.
- Any loss of speech, babbling or social skills at any age.
