Considering the future – thinking about what a better future would be
o Involves synthesising information - making connections between ideas that
may be related/unrelated
o Can provoke debate about possible designed solutions, and may focus on
ethical consequences of designing and making, including environmental,
social, and economic impacts and worldview considerations
o It can be about making a positive impact and minimising harm
o Can encourage research of current, emerging and future technologies and
market trends
o Therefore, this thinking can be used to encourage innovation and possible
entrepreneurial activities such as taking products to market.
