ST-1 location

A

Ventral to the center of the pupil, just inside the infraorbital ridge. Penetrate the point by retropulsing the eyeball dorsally and directing the needle over the infraorbtial ridge, through the skin and under the eye.

The point is found by following the back of the tibia proximally until it bends caudally just below the medial tibial condyle

A

When the stifle is flexed, the point is 2 cun proximal and medial to the patella on a diagonal, in a depression just cranial to the second belly of the sartorius muscle.

The point is approximately 1 patellar length proximal to the the top of the patella and then 1 patellar length caudal

Note: it’s location is based on it’s relationship to the muscle belly of the sartorius muscle and its relationship to the femur, and may change with position and patient variation.
