SOTD - Sound Flashcards
How is sound utilised?
Used to maximise humourous effect, create mood, emphasise plot points and provide narrative foreshadowing. Non-diegetic electronic sound stings are used to disguise edits and transfer energy to the following scene creating comic juxtapositions
How were the sound designers inspired?
Woodhead and Mudford referenced Italian zombie films in their original score and used sound cues from Dawn of the Dead - this pays homage to the zombie genre and acts as a cue to spectator emotion
How is diegetic sound using in the Winchester Pub sequence to generate humour?
Everyone attacks the zombies with pool cues and the diegetic music of don’t stop me know plays in time as they attack providing humility, also used in conjunction to create a sense of rhythm.
What does David messing with the fuse box create?
Creates a strobe effect and wide angled shots of the zombies with their hands in the air resembles a party creating irony and humour
