Q

How is setting used in the narrative to reinforce the ideology?

A

Shaun and Ed are two male 30 somethings who are trapped in a student inflicted adolescence. Their domestic situation is typical of student accommodation, which informs the spectator that they do not have the financial terms to live independently. Also, seen regularly in the pub reinforcing lads culture and Shaun’s inability to grow up

Q

How is Shaun’s weakened masculinity reinforced in costume?

A

He wears a work outfit that draws attention to his low paid job and acts as a metaphor for his lack of ambition and career aspiration (Gen X). The red tie and red ink on his shirt are symbolic of his imminent danger and foreshadow the zombie apocalypse and how Shaun needs tp regain his masculine identity.
