SOP 3710.7K Flashcards
Minimum Weather Criteria
Shore or Ship Operations- 500/1
If positive radar control and a CCA, PAR, or ILS is available for recovery, minimum launch weather mins are 200-1/2
SACT (with visible horizon) - 1000/3
FCF crew requirements
FCF checklists shall only be conducted when the crew includes a designated FCP. The minimum crew for all FCF evolutions is a designated FCP and EP/BITS complete PQM.
The minimum crew for non-FCF ground turns shall be two PQMs
Minimum crew requirements for tactical training events
HAC/L3, PQM, Aircrewman
Currency Requirements- Any pilot who hasn’t flown in 45 days
Shall fly a warm up flight with a current HAC. Warm up flight should include autorotations, single engine operation, dip-to-dip navigation and other FAM type maneuvers as determined by Squadron CO.
Newly Reporting Pilots
Shall complete an EP and course rules exam, and should complete an EP sim prior to their first flight. The first flight for newly reporting pilots shall be a warm up flight with a current HAC, which includes exposure to local course rules.
Night currency
Pilots shall not fly at night as PIC unless they are night current.
To be night current, a pilot shall have flown a minimum of 2 hours at night in the preceeding 45 days.
Between 45 and 60 days CO may authorize a day into night transition
After 60 days, currency shall be regained by flying with a night current PIC
LSO Requirements
All LSO’s shall complete LSO qualification with a current LSO.
Embarked- LSOs shall be designated in writing by the ships CO
Short duration evolution (DLQs, ISATT)- the LSO does not to be designated in writing, but shall brief the ship’s CO or OOD prior to commencing DLQ evolutions.
Shipboard Currency
Conduct an OFT or FDLP event within 30 days of scheduled DLQ evolution. During these evolutions, pilots shall complete no fewer than 3 evolutions (takeoff, downwind, approach, landing) emphasizing DLQ-specific comms and CRM.
Detachment OIC change, CoC, new ship, or more than 60 days since embarkment
Shall conduct:
Day & Night DLQ evolutions
Emergency Flight Quarters
Crash on deck drill
Hot Refueling
Straightening and traversing procedures
ELVA/Self-contained approach
Lost plane homing
Pre-embarkation proficiency
a minimum of 9 hours in the preceding 45 days. Shall obtain night (2 within 45) and instrument currency (2 within 60). During intervals of 45 days or less between embarked evolutions, pilots should fly a minimum of 6 hours and achieve night and instrument currency.
Instrument currency
2 hours of simulated or actual instrument time within preceding 60 days.
Crew day requirements
Ashore,
Aircrew shall not report for official duties earlier than 12 hours prior to the scheduled completion of all flight and post-flight duties. Aircrew involved in night flights should not report for official duties earlier than ten hours prior to the scheduled completion of all flight and post-flight duties.
Crew Rest
Aircrew should not be scheduled to brief a flight event until 12 hours after the completion of post flight duties, simulator events and subsequent debriefs (normally one hour after the event), or squadron duty.
Aircrew shall not be scheduled to brief a flight event until 10 hours after completion of post-flight duties.
Radius of Action
Shipboard radius of action is 150NM or max reliable navigation or communication range, whichever is less. Radius beyond 150 may be approved by CVW Commander or type wing commander provided deliberate ORM has been conducted. Time spent beyond 150NM shall be limited to the miimum time to accomplish mission objectives.
One way flight range
ship-to-ship or shore-to-ship shall be limited to150NM or 200NM with a functioning AUX tank
Ship-to-shore range is 200 NM or 250NM with a functioning AUX tank.
Shore is defined as the nearest point at which a safe landing can be made.
PAX / Indoctrination
Simulated Emergencies, Practice Autorotations, intentional aircraft degradations and ordnance release shall not be performed with passengers embarked or during orientation flights.
Completion of NASTP is mandatory for all orientees unless waived.
Squadron CO may waive NASTP requirement for active duty orientees on day overwater flights.
Altitude restrictions
Unless dictated by operational requirements or as directed by controlling agencies, published restrictions, or approved training ranges, the minimum shall be observed
Overland
Populate - 1000’ AGL
Unpopulated - 500’ AGL
Overwater
Day - 50’ AGL for operational tactical training flights where the altitude supports mission or training objectives
Unaided Night - 150’ AGL
NVD - 100’ AGL
Coupled Hover - 70’ AGL
*Following establishment of a steady hover, altitude may be reduced to no lower than 40’ to conduct live hoisting at PIC discretion
Terrain Flight - 200’ AGL on approved Low level routes only
SACT
Day - 100’ AGL
Night - 500’ AGL
Checklists
All checklists shall be verbally complete in the challenge-reply-reply format up to rotor engagement.
When necessary to avoid interference, checklists may be performed silently by PNAC except for items that require a response.
Stabilator
If pushbutton is not illuminated when AC power is applied, stab lockpins shall be visually checked prior to flight
Stab programming shall be called on first takeoff, and anytime after reengaging auto mode subsequent to a simulated or actual failure.
Rescue hoist Op Check?
Should be completed on the first flight of the day
Landing checklist
Shall be completed when transitioning from pad to runway, or vice versa
In flight mission change checklist
shall be utilized anytime the mission is altered from what was briefed
Hot Refueling/crew swap
Passengers shall not occupy the aircraft during hot refueling.
During crew swaps the helicopter shall be under the control of a pilot, and there shall be a verbal PIC-to-PIC turnover. New crew begins at step 10 of post engagements.
Personnel shall not proceed aft of countermeasures unless arming/dearming the system, while rotors are turning
Aircrew should brief with the HAC at their scheduled brief time, if aircrew are not present, the HAC shall not taxi until the flight crew brief is complete.
