Pressured by their parents, difficult to climb ranks in the workforce, first generation to be influenced by technology

Close knit families, look to adults for guidance, can’t achieve anything independently, first generation to grow up completely with technology
What is Generation Z?
Grew up fully immersed in technology, short attention spans, different outlook on the world
What is a grand narrative?
Applying relevance and accuracy to what young people are learning in a way that they will be interested and understand
What is the natural attitude?
People naturally see themselves and situations from their personal perspective
What is the sociological imagination?
Look at the relationship between history and biography in society
What is the personal milieu?
Personal problems that reach and individual or group around them that can be fixed on their own
What are the public issues of the social structure?
These are the problems that rise with intersecting milieus of people
What is the Information Age?
Castells says that it is the rapid development and widespread use of micro technology
What does McLuhan say about medium?
The message of the medium that introduces a change in pace to human affairs
What is hot media?
It is passive consumption that does not require the receiver to fill in many details
What is cold media?
Requires the receiver to be actively participate, presenting information more abstractly

Individuals turn to apps to answer questions first

Information is being consumed at a rapid rate and there is unlimited accessibility
What are old school expectations?
Engage more with print culture, less with technology, more present
What are new school students?
Recognize the value in the digital world and it’s importance
