A

The Alps would be an natural border, and because it was in the middle of the Mediterranian sea it had a lot of trade.
But also, it was in the middle of the sea so there were a lot of invasions. the mountainous land made regional identity strong and this prevented political unity until the 1860s.

A

The Roads of rome were very important. They connected one area to another. They were used to move people and supplies so they needed to withstand heavy traffic and weather. if it breaks, they will not be able to do so and each area will run out of supplies.
