Q

What is the procedure of your social practical?

A

An obedience questionnaire was created prior to the practical

Likert scales were used e.g. “On a scale of 1-5, 1 being least likely to 5 being most likely, how likely are you to pick up litter if a police officer asked you to?”

Open questions were used e.g. “Would you listen to your co-worker over your boss and why?”

The questionnaire was piloted to ensure the right questions were being asked before being handed out

Participants were thanked for their time and debriefed about the nature of the study

Q

What is a strength of your social practical sample?

Q

What is a weakness of using an opportunity sampling for your social practical?

A

Shared characteristics which might affect their obedience so the results about obedience differences between the genders might be less representative of a wider population’s obedience

Q

What is a strength of the questionnaire used for your social practical?

A

Standardised to all participants which means
the study is able to be replicated easily to see if the results about gender differences
in obedience is reliable

Q

What is a weakness of using a questionnaire in your social practical?

A

May suffer from social desirability in their answers and lie as we are asking them about their obedience so results about obedience (and gender differences) will be less valid as the answers may not be accurate

Q

What is a strength of using closed questions like likert scales in your social practical?

A

Quantitative data so you can easily compare and analyse the differences between
genders in terms of obedience

Q

What is a weakness of using open questions in your social practical?

A

Responses of the participants is subjective as the researcher needs to interpret so its less valid because the results about gender differences in obedience are due to opinion rather than a direct fact
