Q

What is social baseline theory?

A

we assume we’re connected to others by default because we cannot survive a loan, so we see people as extensions of ourselves. When others give us resources, it helps us do less, but when we don’t have others, then we take on more pressure/losd

Describe how we get back to balance when we go through a challenge

A

When does a challenge we use effort. hello stasis is a process of getting back to balance through change or effort. here we use our social connections such as reaching out for help. Finally we return to homeostasis

This needs to cool regulation of social, aloe stasis, whereby we know people will always help us, and we don’t need to regulate our homeostasis . we are securely attached

Q

How does secure attachment related to the brain?

Q

What is namda about?

A

Disrupted attachment, then branches out later on to affect other aspects of life

It typically involves abuse or neglect whereby abuse can lead to hyper arousal I buy a person tries to avoid all kinds of harm

neglect leads to the opposite of hypo arousal by the person, then becomes passive and overly self-sufficient

Study has even shown that those being neglected showed less activation in the approach module to rewards, and will most avoidant attached

it’s important to note that Abi should be broken down as there are different types of abuse

Q

How does neglect show up in the brain in terms of the HPA access?

A

There is a constant blunting of the HPA access due to excessive self reliant emotion regulations. essentially, the person that comes numb to others and realise on themselves.

17
Q

What happens in the approach module when children who have been victims of abuse are shown, angry or fearful faces and why?

A

There is activation. Perhaps this is because their caregiver is still seen as a person who protects

18
Q

Why would you see activation in the approach module and a virgin module in victims of child abuse

A

there is both fear from the caregiver, but also the caregiver is a source of protection and that conflict is represented in the brain
