What is identification?
Private and public Adjustment of behaviour and opinions while being a member of a group.
Once they have left that group they will adopt new opinions.
What is internalisation?
Public and private adjustment of behaviour and opinions, permanent change not depending on a group.
For example, change of religion.
What is compliance?
Private but not public Adjustment of behaviour and opinions to those of a group to be accepted and liked
Once they are not with the group this behaviour disappears
What is informational social influence?
Changing your behaviour or opinions because of a desire to be right.
Eg. First day at new job

Jenness (1932)
What is normative social influence?
Changing your behaviour or opinions because of a desire to be liked. Eg. Going to see a band that your friends like to fit in.

Asch (1951)
