cognitive- have a personal belief about a person/group of people
Affective- the belief leads to a feeling about that person/groups
Behavioural- that leads to you behaving I a certain wat towards that group/person
What is Social Identity?
that part of the individuals self concept which derives from his knowledge oh his membership of a social group together with the value and emotional significance attached to that membership

Evaluating Social Identity theory
S- Tajfel et al- conducted minimal group in which boys split into groups, chance to reward each other or punish each other
Lalonde (1992)- studied hockey team with performance- asked them about it and blamed other team for using dirtier tactics
