Levels of the hierarchy

Pharaoh Role
The pharaoh created laws, led his country into war, collected taxes and oversaw the land of Egypt (upper and lower). They also kept gods happy.
Role of Vizier
He managed taxation,the supply of food and assisted the pharaoh.
Role of Noble/Priest/Government officals
Nobles ran the provinces of ancient Egypt.
Priests ensured earth remains as it is.
Prietesses performed dances and songs.
Government officials oversaw matters of egypt, assisting the king.
Soldier role
Protected egypt in war and oversaw lower classes of egypt
Scribe role
Only people who could read and write, kept records of country and soldier numbers, and wrote copies of book of the dead
Merchant role
Sold goods made from craftsmen, traded, of middle class
Craftsmen role
Included carpenters, jewellers, painters, potters, sculptors, carvers, metal workers and weavers. Worked in workshops of similar skills.
Farmers/Slaves role
Built pyramid of giza, mined stone and precious material, prisoners of war, maids for other people, farmers were important (as they provided food to the people of egypt) and could rent land and recieved gifts from pharaoh. Slaves at the bottom.
Hierarchy
a social or political structure where power and wealth is concentrated at different levels in society.
