Social Cognition Flashcards
What is social learning?
Aquiring information from others
Sometimes called observational learning
Humans are unique in that we can pass on information from one genration to the next
What is cultural transmission of knowledge
We can build on previously discovered information
What is local/stimulus enhancement?

What is imitative learning?
Reproducing an exact behaviour to acheive the same goal
What is teaching?
Competent adult and peer modifies behaviour to demonstate a particular skill
What is social cognitive theory?
Developed by Albert Banduara
emphasizes observational learning
To engage in observational learning children need
Attention
retention
production
motivation
What is mirror neurons?
Neurons that are activated both when we perform an action and see another person perform the same action
What is self efficancy?
Develops through experience
How well you do in regards to others
How people react to things you do
