Difference in social standing based on class, status, or power

When one can use their cultural values, knowledge, accent etc to demonstrate the competence and status

It’s advantages gained by one’s social network

emphasizes the structures and activities that may transmit social inequality and inequity from generation to generation

Whats intragenerational?
Movement from one social class or status to another within individual lifetime
What’s downward mobility?
Moving to a lower social class or status due to economic hardship, stigma, of alienation
What’s upward mobility?
Moving to higher class due to fortune, respect or achievement
What’s absolute poverty?
Amount of money necessary to meet basic needs such as food, healthcare, education etc
What’s relative poverty?
People are deprived or poor based on their income needed in order to maintain their average standard of living.
