Soc 5 Flashcards
Why is rest and recovery helpful
The human body reacts to a hard training session by increasing its ability to cope with future punishing training sessions
Definition of rest
The period of time allocated to recovery
Adaptation
Your body’s response training to cope with new acivity
Recovery
Repair or damage to the body caused
Overtraining
When you train beyond your body’s ability to recover
Why do athletes train longer
Athletes train longer and harder so they can improve. However, without adequate rest and recovery this can backfire
Why is threshold important
Threshold set levels for people to train at that effective buts still safe. Work done below threshold will not improve fitness
Anaerobic training
These limits are usually 60/80% of your MHR, your anaerobic training they would usually be 80/90%
How do you worm out maximun heart rate
220 - age = maximum heart rate
Aerobic target zone
60% = (60x204) divided by 100 =122.4
80% = (80x204) divided by 100= 163.2
How to work out Karvonen Formula
220 - age(14) = 206
190 - resting heart rate(68) = 138
138 x 0.60 = 82.8
138 x 0.80 = 110.4
82.8 + rhr(68) = 150.8 (60%)
110.4 + rhr(68) = 178.4 (80%)
