Smoking laws and regulations have been implemented by the Australian government to reduce smoking rates and minimise its impacts on the health and wellbeing of the Australian community. Such laws include Advertising laws, tobacco packaging laws, smoke-free laws, and age limits.
What is the national tobacco campaign?
The national tobacco campaign is a government initiative that was first launched in 1997, aiming to reduce smoking rates in Victoria, by changing the behaviour and attitude of smokers, through advertisements, and different language resources they provide for a diverse range of people.
What is Quit Campaign?
Quit Campaign aims to reduce the health, financial, environmental, and social harms caused by smoking tobacco. They provide free quit coaching, a free quit plan, and educational materials to help quit smoking.
What is Quit Now?
Quit Now is the national portal to a network of state quite lines. They offer evidence-based support, like counselling to people who want to quit smoking.
What is Quitline service?
Quitline is a free telephone service, where individuals can speak with a trained ‘quit specialist’, who can help individuals through answering questions and providing advice and support as they try to quit smoking.
What is Quit Victoria?
Quit Victoria is primarily funded by VicHealth and the department of Health and Human Services (Victorian government). Quit has a vision of ‘tobacco-free Victoria’. They aim to achieve this by discouraging people from starting to smoke, and supporting current smokers to quit, through the implementation of evidence-based policies and programs.
