shape memory alloys

A

they remember their original shape , they can return to original shape when heated above a certain temperature
For example nitinol - glasses frame , if it bends it can be heated in water to return to shape

they change colour in response to light for example sunglasses that change colour when its sunny

what is a datum reference point

A

When marking out an object, they’re used as a reference point for all measurements to be taken from and can be chosen . By taking measurements from a small number of set points, accuracy can be improved
a single datum point, often found in the corner of a design. In a circular shape, it would be around the edge or from the centre.
For example using dotted construction lines to find the centre of a square
