Smart goals
5 different aspects of making goals
Specific
Knowing exactly what the goal is. Fitness and performance should be evaluated before setting goals.
Measurable
It will be easy to know the goals have been achieved. Time,distance,speed.
Achievable
Goals must be attainable, unachievable is likely to result in demotivation
Realistic
A goal may well be achievable in practice, but there are other reasons that may hinder the completion of that goal. E.g. the gym was closed
Time-bound
Odes the goal have an end point? If not, it is easy to put off achieving indefinitely.
Short-term goals
small achievable goals with a short time limit. They motivate performers and allow them to see progress
long-term goals
long term goals with a long time limit. To achieve these, short term goals must be met first
outcome goals
these are based on previous results
performance goals
these are based on previous performance
