What is Manumission?
It’s the freeing of enslaved people. They could be freed in the wills of their masters, for good service, could buy their freedom or most common way for women was by marrying their master. Augustus did put limitations to manumissions tho
What is a pileus?
It’s the symbol of freedom, it’s a hat that a slave would wear after gaining freedom.

The Acte Monument
Altar that contains curse to a girl’s mother on back. The husband cursed the freedwoman (his wife) for abandoning him and taking with her two enslaved people. This altar was used to study rights and treatment of women freed for marriage.
