Abrasion
A wound caused by rubbing or scrapping the skin or a mucus membrane.
Acanthosis nigricans
A skin condition characterized by areas of dark discoloration in body folds and creases.
Acne
A skin condition that occurs when hair follicles plug with oil and dead skin cells.
Eczema
A general term that describes inflammation of the skin.
Jaundice
A condition in which a person’s skin and the whites of the eyes are discolored yellow due to an increased level of bike pigments in the blood.
Keloid
Sharply elevated, irregularly shaped, progressively enlarged scar due to excessive collagen formation in the corium during connective tissue repair.
Lesion
Injury to a tissue.
Macule
A small, flat area of discolored skin less than 5mm in diameter.
Maculopapular
Refers to combination of small flat spots and raised spots on the skins.
Nodule
A larger swelling on the skin surface more than 5mm in diameter.
Pallor
Paleness of the skin.
Papule
Small raised areas of skin less than 5mm in diameter.
Petechiae
Red, brown, or purple flat macules up to 2mm in diameter.
Pruritus
Severe itching.
Psoriasis
An autoimmune disease that causes raised, red, scaly patches to appear on the skin.
