What is this, where are they found and what is it associated with?
Spider agiomata {AKA: Telangiectasia}:a central dilated arteriole from which numerous, small?vessels radiate. Resembles spider legs
Most commonly found on the: face, neck, chest, back, forearm, dorsum of hands
Associated with:
* Liver Cirrhosis (especially in alcoholics) {5 or more indicates CLD}
* Viral hepatitis
* Estrogen therapy
* 3Rd Trimester of pregnancy
* sometimes in Thyrotoxicosis
Describe this picture
On the scalp and forehead are widely disseminated tiny white spots
Findings suggest: Uremic frost (BUN ~ 5.6mmol/L)
Note: white spots are crystallized urea. It results, from the evaporation of sweat that contains high amounts of urea.
