Purpose of Skills Development Act 97 of 2008:

A

Improve skills of South African workforce. Changed the way we train employees. Develop by improving quality of life, productivity, self employment and delivery of social services. Increase levels of investment in education and training. Encourage employers to use workplace as active learning environment, provide opportunity to acquire new skills and opportunities for new entrants. Assist work seekers in finding work, retrenched workers to re-enter the labour market and employers in finding qualified employees.

Purpose of Skills Development Amendment Act 37 of 2008:

A

Deals with the functions of SETAs and descriptions of learnerships. Focus on artisan development. Provides for establishment of a skills development planning unit.
