Implicit learning:
Knowledge people use daily. Cannot describe how knowledge was acquired. Occurs without conscious control.
Explicit learning:
Requires conscious and deliberate thought and effort. Can be divided in three activities:
Memorizing.
Problem-solving.
Understanding.
Memorizing:
Commit it to memory through repetition.
Problem-solving:
Find answers to the problem and do something to achieve a goal.
Understanding:
Interaction between existing and new knowledge.
Barriers to learning:
External and internal.
External barriers:
Physical barriers: Inappropriate time.
Specific environment: Unsupported and pressured.
Internal barriers:
Perceptual: Inability to see a problem.
Personality: Learning styles and preferences.
Cultural orientation : Way things are done within cultural context.
Emotional: Mood.
Motivational: Unwillingness to take risks.
Cognitive: Limited ability.
Communication: Ineffective communication.
Situational: Lack of opportunity.
