skill continua Flashcards
Environmental continuum
Open:
> unpredictable environment
> large amount of info
>affected by variables
Closed:
>predictable environment
> self paced
> constistent
Continuity continuum
Continuous: no clear beginning or end, repetition of same skill
Serial: Several discrete movements into one sequence
Discrete: Clear beginning and end
Muscular involvement continuum
Fine: > small muscle groups > delicate skill > low arousal Gross: > large muscle groups > high arousal
Pacing continuum
Self paced: controls start and speed of the skill, not affected by outside variables
Externally paced: no control over start and speed of skill
Orgainisation continuum
Low: skill easily broken into parts
eg. triple jump
High: not easily broken into parts
eg. pole vault
Difficulty continium
Simple: dew decisions to be made
eg. forward roll
Complex: lots of decisions to be made
eg. dribbling in hockey
