Define Exoskeleton
The skeleton is on the outside; must be shed before growth.
Define Endoskeleton
Skeleton on the inside, keeps growing until maturity is reached

Kangaroos, Crocodiles, Turtles, (grow horizontal)
How many bones in the human body?
206 in an adult skeleton
What protects the main nerve, the spinal cord?
Vertebral Column (spine)
Name at least two purposes for the human skeleton
Support body in upright position
To make blood cells in marrow
For muscles to attach using tendons
To protect organs
What is the Axial Skeleton?
The main part of the skeleton, including the skull, mandible, spine (vertebral column), sacrum, and ribs
What is the appendicular skeleton?
All the joining bits to the Axial skeleton, including the clavicle, scapula, humerus, ulna, radius, all the hand bones, pelvis, femur, tibia, fibula, and all the foot bones.
What are the carpal bones?
Wrist bones
What are the phalanx bones?
Finger bones
What are the tarsal bones?
Ankle bones
What are the metacarpal bones
Palm bones
What are the phalanges?
Toe bones
What are the metatarsal bones?
Foot bones
What does bone marrow produce?
Red and white blood cells, platelets
