What is the difference between a Vertebrate and Invertebrate?
A vertebrate HAS a backbone, an invertebrate does not.
Name invertebrates.
Crabs, lobsters, prawns (lots of sea creatures), spiders, scorpions, worms, ect.
What is an advantage and disadvantage of being an invertebrate
Advantage: Less energy to maintain posture, can fit into smaller places,
Disadvantage: Can’t walk upright or perform complex movements.
Define warm-blooded.
Can maintain a consistent internal body heat regardless of conditions by eating food to generate energy. Can warm up and cool down by shivering and panting/sweating. Generally have fur/hair to insulate and trap heat.
Define cold-blooded.
Relies on surroundings for main source of warmth, generally have scales, needs to eat less food compared to a mammal of the same size.
