Skeletal System Flashcards
What 8 bones are part of the cranium?
- two parietal
- two temporal
- occipital
- frontal
- sphenoid
- ethmoid
What 14 bones are part of the face?

- mandible
- two inferior nasal conchae
Name the 7 sutures of the cranium
- Coronal (between parietal bones and frontal bone)
- Sagittal (between parietal bones)
- Lambdoidal (surrounding occipital bone)
- Squamosal suture (surrounding temporal bones)
- Temporozygomatic (between temporal and zygomatic bones)
- Median palatine suture (divides the palate in two)
- Trans palatine suture (divides front and back from molar to molar)
What does the foramen magnum do?
Spinal cord passes through here (specifically CN XI)
What does the foramen ovale do?
Mandibular division of the trigeminal nerve
What does the foramen spinosum do?
Caries the middle meningeal artery
