What is the agentic state?
A
when a person sees themself as an agent for carrying out another person’s wishes so they don’t have to take repsonsibility for their own actions

A
- the action of shifting the responsibility of your action onto someone else
- autonomous state and agentic state
- milgram suggests this occurs when someone persieves someone else as an authority figure

A
when a person behaves according to their own principles and takes responsibilty for their own actions

- what milgram describes as aspects of a situation that allows a person to reduce the moral strain of their actions
- it causes people to remain in the agentic state

A
- it refers to a person who is percieved to be in a position of social control within a situation
- for an authority to be viewed a legitimate the situation must occur in an institutional structure
