Sitting 4 Months
Head in midline in supported sit
If tilted from midline in supported sit, rights head
Attempts to help sit
Sitting 6 Months
Sit if placed and supported at low back or pelvis
Upper and middle back relatively straight
Lumbar spine still rounded
Prop sit-leans forward and props on UEs, UE protective response forward
Pulls straight through sit to stand
Sitting 7 Months
Sits with: -more narrow base of support -1 arm free to play-> unilateral reach -UE protective response lateral Transfers objects hand to hand
Sitting 8 Months
Independent sitting
Sitting is dominant at this age:
-2 arms free to play
-Upper trunk rotation possible in sitting
DISSOCIATION of upper trunk from lower trunk AND of arms from trunk (reach across midline)
Transition in and out of sitting safely through sidelying
“Hitching” on bottom with or without hands
Cervical and lumbar lordosis present
Sitting 10-12 Months
Alternates between kneeling and knee sitting
