Pediatric Assessment Tools Flashcards
Denver Developmental Screening Test (DDST II)
Screening tool for developmental delays in 4 areas
- birth to 6 years of age
- norm-referenced
Alberta Infant Motor Scale (AIMS)
Observational assessment scale for measuring gross motor maturation in order to identify infants with delayed or aberrant motor performance
- birth thru independent walking (0-18 months)
- criterion-referenced with normed percentile rankings
Peabody Developmental Motor Scales
Test items were obtained from validated motor scales
- birth to 83 months of age; able bodied or disabled children
- norm-referenced but may be criterion-referenced measure of motor pattern and skills
Bruinink-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency (BOT)
To assess gross and fine motor functioning in children
- 4.5 to 14.5 years of age with normal and developmentally disabled populations
- norm-referenced with individually administered tasks
Functional Independence Measure for Children (WeeFIM)
Developed to assess and track development of functional independence in children with disabilities
- 6 months to 7 years of age (also useful with individuals of all ages with developmental and mental disabilities)
- criterion-based
Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM)
Used to assess change in motor function over time (how much) in gross motor function in children with CP
- 5 months to 12 years with CP
- criterion-based
Gross Motor Performance Measure (GMPM)
Used in conjunction with GMFM to evaluate the quality of movement (how well) in children with CP
- children under 5 years
- criterion-based observation
