Without assist: Ambulates up stairs and down stairs 1 step at a time
Jump off step with 2 feet
Balance on 1 foot 3 seconds
Kick a large ball
Throw a small ball
Step over low objects
Begin to run (although starting and stopping still difficult)
Jumping (1 foot leaves ground then the other)

Mature gait developing:
Arms and legs move reciprocally and in synchrony
Out-toeing reduced
Pelvic Rotation and Double-knee lock pattern are present
Heelstrike present
Other reciprocal action mastered such as riding a tricycle and climbing a ladder
Can balance on toes and heels in standing
Tandem standing possible
Balance on one foot 3 seconds
Uses reciprocal gait on stairs
Jumping over object (Initially leading with one foot, then the other. Progressing to take off and land with 2 feet by 3 ½.)
Jumping may progress to running broad jump, vertical jumps.
Hopping once or twice on preferred foot

Throw and catch a small ball form 10 feet away
Walk on a balance beam forwards, backwards and sideways
Able to use alternative forms of locomotion such as riding a bike or roller skating
Mature form in striking
Beginning to master adult forms of running, throwing, catching (6-10 years of age)
