Single Pilot Resourse Management Flashcards
Describe the ADM process
The systematic process of collecting information and using it to make decisions that safely and effectively complete a mission. There are many acronyms that can be used in aiding this.
5 P model
Used a key decision points, especially in the planning phases, and throughout the remainder of the mission.
P plan-NWKRAFT 91.103
P plane-Airworthiness (AVIATES), mechanical status, database, req equip for mission
P pilot IMSAFE
P passengers, flight experience, health, business or pleasure
P programming, GPS, PFD, MFD, autopilot
What is a good acronym in decision making?
DECIDE MODEL
D detect a change needing attention (scan)
E estimate the gravity of the problem
C choose the needed outcome
I identify action required to affect change
D do it
E evaluate the decision and repeat as required
What acronym can be used to determine pilot readiness?
IMSAFE
I illness M medication, prescription or over the counter S stress A alcohol, 8 hrs or under influence F fatigue E eating
Name the 5 hazardous attitudes and antidotes.
IM AIR
I invulnerable “that can’t happen to me”= it can happen to me
M macho “oh yeah, I can do it” =taking chances is foolish
A anti authority “don’t tell me” = follow the rules! they are usually there for a reason
I impulsivity “ do it quickly”= think it through first
R resignation “what’s the use?” What I do can make a difference
What are two ways to accomplish a checklist?
DV=do-verify. This uses flow patterns to accomplish items then confirms action with checklist
CDV= challenge do verify (challenge response) action is completed after item is read (common in two pilot crews)
What is the 3P model used in ADM?
Hint- think of 3 actions that start with a P and an associated checklist for each action.
Perceive hazards using the PAVE checklist P pilot A aircraft V enVironment E external pressures
Process hazards using the CARE checklist C consequences A alternatives R reality of situation E external pressures
Perform risk management using TEAM checklist
T transfer, can someone else be consulted
E eliminate hazard if able
A accept-do benefits outweigh costs?
M mitigate
