Why did Jinnah produce his 14 points in 1929?
A
-Nehru’s report was against Muslim interests
1 unitary government
2 joint electorate
3 Hindi as the national language
-Jinnah’s amendments were rejected so 14 points were written as a “parting of the ways”
-protect political rights of Muslims
-Jinnah demanded:
1 Federal form of government
2 provincial autonomy
3 separate the electorate
4 effective representation of Muslims in assemblies & 1/3rd seats for Muslims in all cabinets
6 Muslim provinces of Sind, NWFP, & Baluchistan
-act became part of 1935 government act
