SIM3 2017 Flashcards
Severe Icing
MINIMUM SPEEDS INCREASE BY 10KTS PWR MGT MCT CLs 100% OVRD PLs NOTCH CONTROL COLUMN HOLD FIRMLY AND AP DISENGAGE LEAVE ICING CONDITIONS (descend) NOTIFY ATC
Diversion decision making
Determine appropriate airport (operational suitability and order of preference by category, crew familiarity, fuel reserves on arrival, availability of fuel/engineering/security, commercial considerations, communication considerations)
Turn towards airport if time critical
Notify ATC for clearance/tracking
Initiate a descent if close
Brief arrival
Brief senior (2 minutes per 3000 feet to lose, is evacuation required)
Notify company if time permits
Smoke
OXY MASKS/GOGGLES ON CREW COMMUNICATIONS ESTABLISH RECIRC FANS OFF AP ON "Senior, report to the interphone" If unable to identify source or unable to extinguish, immediately divert to nearest suitable airport Notify ATC and fire services Unless fire is confirmed to be extinguished with no other indications, initiate an evacuation as soon as possible

RTO
Captain “reject”, PLs GI and max braking
FO assume control of column, call “two/one low pitch”/”no reverse” as appropriate and notify ATC “stopping”
30kts FO gust lock
Once stopped, Captain parking brake engage and either “Cabin crew and passengers remain seated with seatbelts fastened” or “This is the Captain, cabin crew to your stations”
Captain “confirm the failure”
FO press RCL and announce
Captain call for appropriate checklist

OEI landing
Remember to run final single engine operation checklist items
With power lever reduction comes trim reduction
Disconnect AP early enough to get a feel for the aircraft
After YD disengaged flick trim to hold steady (or neutral trim is an option)
In flare, apply opposite rudder with power reduction
Do not come back to GI until nose wheel is on the ground
When PLs come back to GI again apply opposite rudder
OEI go around
"Going around, flap 15, check power" Press GA buttons Increase PLs to ramp, applying the same side rudder at the same rate Pitch nose up and bank 2 degrees to live engine Follow missed approach tracking requirements Confirm GA, HHOLD and pitch up "Positive rate" gear up "Power checked" Set HDG, LO BANK, IAS VGA Advise ATC of going around "Acceleration altitude" set speed bug 170 "White bug/icing bug" "Power lever in the notch set MCT" "Flaps 0" "White/icing bug + 10" set HI BANK After take off checklist TOC review

2D reversal (NDB)
“Flap 15 set speed bug 140”
HDG mode and set course bar to outbound
At IAF (“Commence timing”) Turn to outbound with adjustments for wind
Set minimum descent altitude
“Gear down” (“Set missed approach altitude” if not concerned about minimum altitude)
At outbound limit “Flap 30 set speed bug V approach” and commence turn
Once established not below minimum altitude on inbound track, set missed approach altitude
Before landing checklist
“1000ft stable”
RNAV
Crossing IAF “Set VDA”
Check altitudes every 2NM and call high/low ft
