Sim 118A&B Study Flashcards
When setting thrust during T/O what limits will the a/t set thrust to?
What are the manual adjustments required?
A/t could overshoot N1 by upto 4% settling to +/- 2% before thr hold engages.
If manual adjustment is required set -0% to +1%
Note: Thr hold prevents unwanted thrust lever movement in case of a malfunction.
Target speed during rotation (normal t/o)?
V2 +15 to V2 +25
Target speed after t/o with engine failure?
V2 to V2 +20
When using ATM for t/o is it permitted for wet t/o? Contaminated t/o?
Wet-yes
Contaminated- no
When using fixed derate for t/o can this be use for wet t/o? Contaminated t/o?
Yes for both.
What scenario would allow a higher t/o weight using a fixed derate?
On contaminated rwy when VMCG is the limiting factor a fixed derate will allow a lower VMCG allowing a higher weight to be carried
If an engine failure occurs during a atm t/o can you advance the thrust levers if required?
Yes
When using a fixed derate or atm/fixed derate t/o can you advance thrust levers after an engine failure if reqd?
No only advance thrust lever in a situation such as windshear due to possible vmca limitations.
What are the possible symptoms of volcanic ash encounter?
- Odour (Smokey, acrid electrical burning, sulphuric type smell)
- Haze
- Changing engine conditions ( surging, temp fluctuations, flameout)
- Airspeed ( pitot could get blocked resulting in erratic airspeed)
- pressurisation ( can change including total loss)
- static discharge( similar to st Elmo’s fire).
