Affect - the observed expression of emotion
Constricted/Restricted - reduction in intensity
Blunted- Severe reduction in intensity of affect
Flat - absence of any signs of expression of affect
Labile mood - rapid changes in emotional feeling tone unrelated to external stimuli
Euthymic
Irritable
Elation
Euphoria
Mania
Hypomania
Euthymic - normal range of mood
Irritable - easily annoyed
Elation - feelings of joy
Euphoria - intense feelings of joy
Mania - mood state characterized by elation, agitation, hyperactivity and accelerated thinking and speaking
Hypomania - less intense mania
Apathy
Anhedonia

Apathy - lack of motivation to do anything
Anhedonia - inability to feel pleasurable activities
La belle indifference - lack of concern about one’s disability

Flight of ideas - thought move abruptly from idea to idea
Circumstantiality - overinclusion of trivial/ irrelevant details
Derailment - gradual or sudden deviation in train of thought without blocking
Tangentiality - Inability to have a goal directed association of thought
Preservaration
Loosening of association
Word salad
Irrelevant ideas
Echolalia
Preservaration - persistent and inappropriate repetition of the same thought
Loosening of association - loss of normal structure of thinking
Word salad - incohrerent mixture of words and phrases
Irrelevant ideas - answer that is not in harmony with the questions asked
Echolalia - repetition of words or phrases of one person by another.
