what is the literal meaning of shukr
-shakara(open or reveal): visualizing the favor and revealing it
kafara: close or conceal
what is technical meaning of shukr
- to reveal the effect of Allah’s favor on the tongue, in the heart, and by the limbs of body of his slave
- tongue praise him, heart recognizes him, limbs of the body act accordingly to what he pleases
state 3 manifestation of shukr
- al- shukr bi al- qalb(gratitude by the heart)
- al shukr bi al- lisan(gratitude by tongue)
- al shukr bi al- jawarih(gratitude by the limb of the body)

Explain al- shukr bi al- lisan
a. act of praising Allah
- praising Allah as the originator of the favors by uttering Alhamdullilah
b. act of mentioning the favors received from Allah
- proclaiming the grace of Allah to His slave
- Exp: the wor uttered by prophet sulaiman describing the favors received only from Allah
c. act of refraining oneself from proclaiming that the others are the originator of the favors
- avoid declaring others as the originator of the favor
- disregarding Allah as the originator is considered an act of kufr

- completely obeys Allah;s commands by using His favors according to His will
- avoid misusing the favor against His Will
